Types of Finishes

Waterborne

We are very well versed with the full lines of Bona, Glitsa, Basic Coatings, and Loba for both residential and commercial settings. Contrary to popular belief in the building industry, unlike 15 years ago, most waterborne finishes today are actually far more durable than their oil modified predecessors. They are also far less harmful to the indoor and outdoor environment, as well as to those using it. Their dry times are a fraction of oil finishes, and their cure times can be as short as 72hrs. This allows homeowners and contractors to move back in and continue their work with little down-time. Water-based finishes tend to retain the original (non-yellowing) appearance.

Hardwax oils

We have years of experience and offer the best application in the state of Maine with Rubio Monocoat, Osmo, Loba Impact Oil, and are now offering Bona Craft Oil. Where many of these “single coat application” finishes are sufficient in that one coat, we do find that they all perform optimally with two coats.

Staining

We use DuraSeal, Bona DriFast Stain, and Minwax stains to offer you not only classic colors, but also custom mixed colors based on your preferences.

Tung oil

Sutherland Welles & Waterlox are our choice tung oils.

Oil modified

Bona Woodline is our choice of oil modified polyurethane.

Plant based penetrating oil

Woca Oil Master Color Oil is an environmentally friendly plant based penetrating oil. It is sustainable and free from any preservatives. It contains primarily cold-pressed vegetable oil and aromatic hardening oils, and is available in 11 colors which can be mixed or layered.
